About SudokuSwap

SudokuSwap is a free daily puzzle game that flips sudoku on its head: every board arrives already filled in, but scrambled. Instead of writing digits into empty cells, you swap pairs of tiles until every row, column, and 3×3 box holds the digits 1 through 9 exactly once.

How it started

SudokuSwap began as a simple question: what would sudoku feel like if it borrowed the swap-and-color mechanics of daily word games? Classic sudoku rewards deduction; swap puzzles reward planning. Combining them produces a puzzle where you can always see the whole board, yet finishing in the fewest possible moves takes genuine strategy.

How puzzles are made

Every puzzle is generated and verified by our own tooling. Each board is scrambled from a valid solved sudoku, then analyzed to determine its guaranteed minimum number of swaps — that minimum is what your five-star rating is measured against. Boards are graded into easy, medium, and hard difficulty by the complexity of the swap sequences they require, and three new puzzles are published every day at local midnight.

The game today

SudokuSwap offers three daily puzzles, a full archive of past dailies with a calendar browser, star ratings against per-board minimums, hints, streak tracking, and optional free accounts that sync your statistics across devices and place you on global leaderboards for fastest solves and longest daily streaks.
